Art competition

3 January 2008, Prague – Every year, the humanitarian organization ADRA organizes an art competition for elementary schools from all over the Czech Republic. This will be the third anniversary and its topic will be “Children against Poverty, or People Should Not Be Poor”.

The competition is a part of the educational project PRVák, in which trained lecturers introduce children and young people from the Czech Republic to development countries. It helps them understand what development countries are, what kind of problems they face, who and how solves their situation, what the principles of development aid are and how they themselves can take part.

The eligible ages are between 7 and 11 years. Their goal is to draw their idea of how to help the poor people on a sheet of paper (sizes A4 or A3). The competition starts on 1 February 2008 and ends on 21 April 2008.

All submitted works will be evaluated by a jury consisting of specialists as well as laypersons. The fifty best pictures will be, as usual, reprinted in a special catalogue. The jury will also reward the best three authors. The award ceremony will take place on 3 June 2008 at a beneficial event in Prague where the winning drawings of the competition will be exhibited. We cordially invite all people who are never tired of helping wherever they are needed. People who are not afraid of challenging sadness and poverty and who look for ways to sweep them away.
