Integration of people with HIV and AIDS into local communities, stage II

In Southeastern Asia, Cambodia has the highest number of people infected with HIV and suffering from AIDS. Consequently, we chose Cambodia to launch the project “Integration of people with HIV and AIDS into local communities". It was implemented in the towns of Sampov and Kravanh and we started preparing it in November 2005.

It built upon the immensely successful project in the town of Pursat.

The crucial point was to raise awareness of the HIV and AIDS danger. We conducted informative trainings for women from the local communities and for the local religious authorities, and the participants could obtain answers to their questions in the subsequent, immensely valuable discussions. We also supported the local health system.
