Reconstruction of St. Anne Hospital

As a consequence of unprecedented storms, precipitation and hail between May and September 2005, areas of north-eastern and central Bulgaria were hit by the worst floods in the last 70 years.

The reconstruciton of St. Anne Hospital commence din February 2006 and its goal was to reconstruct the basement, to repair the walls, floors, ceelings, to purchase and install new lightning, doors, windows and sanitary facilities, to repair wiring, to put in operation a new electrical panel and electrical mains. The hospital was inaugurated in the middle of May 2006.

Instantaneous help after floods

At the end of May and at the beginning of June 2005, Bulgaria was affected by floods, which damaged roads, railways, the sewerage system and cut water and electricity supplies. More than 100 villages and roughly 30 towns were hit.

The main goal of the project was to offer immediate humanitarian help to unfortunate families mainly in the cities of Nikopol, Lom, Dolni Cibar and Pleven. ADRA helped distribute beds, blankets, bedclothes, elecrical cookers and other household appliances. It also helped reconstructed damaged houses.
