Who we are

We are an international humanitarian organisation that offers help to people in need. We help both in extraordinary situations (natural disasters, war conflicts, etc.) and in implementing long-term developmental projects (by supporting education, employment, etc.). Our main goal is to help people in need to become again capable of fending for themselves and to utilize optimally the resources they have at their disposal. We strive to raise living and health standards of the inhabitants of the Czech Republic, of developing countries and everybody who needs our help, regardless of race, sex, or religious affiliation.

ADRA ČR is active in Bangladesh, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, India, Cambodia, Kenya, Lebanon, Moldavia, Pakistan, Russia, Serbia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, USA and Zambia. In all the years of its existence ADRA has helped in more than 35 countries in the world.

In the Czech Republic, it runs an educational programme called Project: No problem (geared towards workers of non-profit organisations) a PRVák, whose goal is to increase the awareness of children and youth about the problems of developing nations and development cooperation. ADRA also operates several volunteer centres and two shelters for asylum-seekers, has a team of psychosocial workers and every year it awards the Michal Velíšek award persons who did not hesitate to aid someone whose life was in danger.

• Every year, ADRA ČR takes part in the awareness campaign Czech Republic fights poverty, whose goal is to raise awareness of global poverty not only of the general public but also of public administration and of Czech politicians
