About PRVák

ŠvPPRVák is ADRA’s project promoting global development education in the Czech Republic.

Experienced lecturers work with kindergarten children, elementary and secondary school students and their educators to raise awareness about global issues.

Educational programmes and workshops cover a plethora of topics, with age-appropriate activities adjusted to the needs of the target groups.

Global development education helps to open new horizons, showing the world in its diversity and colourfulness. It enables people to better understand the interconnectedness between their lives and the lives of people throughout the globe, leading to openness, tolerance and concern for our world.

ZŠ Mikoláše AlšeProject PRVák consists of three modules oriented to different target groups

  • pre-school children and their teachers
  • pupils and teachers of elementary schools
  • secondary education students

For the realization of PRVák’s varied activities, ADRA has received a grant from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic each year since 2006. The project is under the auspices of the United Nations Information Centre in Prague.

The 1st module – Kindergardens

MŠThe first module of project PRVák is designed for pre-school children and their teachers.

The aim of the children’s programmes is to introduce different cultures to the youngest children, with selected topics and methods used that offer age-appropriate activities and reflect the needs of this young population.

The goal of workshops for the kindergarten teachers is to familiarize them with the issues of global developmental education and motivate them to implement it into their kindergarten curricula.

The 2nd module – Elementary schools

ZŠ ZlínThe second module of project PRVák involves workshops for teachers and thematic days for pupils.

The goal of teacher workshops is to help the elementary educators get acquainted with the basic principles of global developmental education and introduce ways to implement it into their teaching.

Using interactive methods, the thematic days for pupils aim to introduce some of the issues developing countries often face, covering topics, such as poverty, inequality, globalization, human rights, refugees, cultural diversity, minorities, etc.

The educational programmes are designed to attract the interest of Czech pupils about these issues and motivate them to create their own opinions. Under the umbrella of the second module, PRVák also organizes programmes, such as outdoor school, summer day camps, and a nationwide drawing contest.

The 3rd module – Secondary schools

SŠPRVák´s third module expands the knowledge of secondary school students regarding global issues.

It covers topics such as globalization, fair trade, MDG´s, OSN, slums, inequality of world´s economy, etc., familiarizing students with life in a multicultural society and a globalizing world.

The ultimate goal of this module is not only to broaden the knowledge of the Czech teenage population about the issues of development, but also to foster interest in young people, motivating them to become active and responsible participants in changing our world for the better. Additionally, several programmes are also offered in English.
